The National Institute of Transparency, Access to Information, and Protection of Personal Data (INAI) builds alliances to bring COVID-19 information to indigenous communities

May 20, 2020 / COVID-19 / Personal Data Protection

INAI builds alliances with institutions and Civil Society Organizations (CSO) to bring information about COVID-19 to indigenous communities and peoples, through community and cultural radio stations.

Through the virtual forum «Access to information and the role of community and indigenous radio stations amid COVID-19 pandemic», INAI —through its Commission President, Francisco Javier Acuña Llamas— proposed to establish a permanent coordination with the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT), the National Institute of Indigenous Languages (INALI), and the National Institute of Indigenous Peoples (INPI) to provide timely and accurate information to all indigenous peoples and communities regarding the health emergency.

Acuña Llamas stated that the access to information must achieve the inclusion of all languages and voices existing in the country. Therefore, the participation of INAI and IFT is essential in their relevant competencies.
