During the pandemic, INAI and guarantor bodies oversee the duty of the State to inform about how it protects the population: Acuña Llamas

June 19, 2020 / COVID-19 / Privacy and Personal Data Protection

The Commission President of the INAI, Francisco Javier Acuña Llamas, pointed out that the function of the National Institute of Transparency, Access to Information, and Protection of Personal Data and the guarantor bodies of the federal entities of the National Transparency System is to ensure that the State properly and promptly explains how it complies with its duty of protecting the population.

He mentioned that the guarantor bodies of Mexico have established different measures so that the obligated persons do not give up on one of their greatest duties: to inform and explain to society what is happening with the pandemic.

He also stated that, although procedural deadlines and time limits to respond to appeals and requests were suspended at the beginning of the health crisis, they have been reassumed for those obligated persons whose activities are deemed essential, necessary, and indispensable during the emergency. The obligated persons whose activities are deemed essential may respond to the applications through digital deposits.
