The National Institute of Transparency, Access to Information, and Protection of Personal Data (INAI) made available 512 new requirements addressed to 140 obligated persons on the microsite Transparencia Proactiva COVID-19 (Proactive Transparency COVID-19).
Nowadays, there are 1,793 requests that have been submitted between January 1 and April 30, through which it has been possible to identify the demands for information submitted to the obligated persons, as well as the responses issued by such obligated persons in relation to the evolution of the pandemic.
From January 1 to April 1, the most requested information was about action plans or protocols to deal with COVID-19 outbreak; from April 2 to April 14, it focused on statistics about pneumonia and atypical pneumonia; and from April 16 to April 30, the most requested information was budget, agreements, and economic support.
Besides providing new data regarding the information requests, the microsite shows the importance of the exercise of the Right of Access to Information in emergency situations, in which the institutions must not only respond in a timely manner, but also they must make available accessible, timely, understandable, and truthful information to the people.
