Héctor Guzmán has provided international legal consulting services in the area of personal data protection to the law firm BGBG Abogados since 2012, where he took over as head ofthat practice areain August 2013.

On the other hand, he served asChief Privacy Officerat the Spanish Ministry of Defense for one year (2012–2013) through the General Sub-Directorate of Information and Communications Technologies—Secretariat of State for Defense.

In addition, he has provided consulting services on personal data protection matters to several multinational companies incorporated or based in Spain that operate in various sectors, including energy, banking, insurance, retail, and insurance assistance, among others. He hasalso worked withthe Valencian Regional Government and the Information Management Department of the Social Security. He also participated in two studies on the proposed European Union General Data Protection Regulation (First and Second Editions) coordinated byISMS Forum Spain and Data Privacy Institute.

Héctor is currently a member of the Madrid Bar Association (ICAM); ISMS Forum Spain; the Spanish Professional Association of Privacy (APEP); and theIbero-American Data Protection Observatory.

Similarly, Héctor Guzmán has carried out compliance and audit projects related to personal data protection for several Spanish public administrations, including theSpanish National Energy Commission, the BarcelonaTax Management Agency, andthe Regional Ministry of Social Welfare
